Are you an experienced payroll professional with strong data and Excel skills, looking to return to the workforce or balance your career with other priorities? At Australian Venue Co., we’re offering a rare opportunity to step into a senior payroll role part-time — three days a week — where your expertise will directly strengthen payroll compliance across our large and growing hospitality business, with an employee headcount of over 9,000.

Please note: the role requires availability to work alternating public holidays. 

What You’ll Do

  • Ensure accurate, compliant payroll processing across Australia (and support NZ where required).
  • Interpret and apply complex Awards, agreements, and legislation with precision.
  • Lead audit, compliance, and reporting activities to ensure payroll integrity.
  • Drive continuous improvement by challenging current processes.
  • Support system accuracy and optimisation (Humanforce, MicrOpay, and Workday).
  • Provide trusted, experienced advice to strengthen payroll processes and compliance maturity.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years’ payroll experience with a strong focus on Australian payroll processes.
  • Expert award interpretation skills and detailed knowledge of Australian legislation, tax, and super.
  • Compliance and audit focus with a data-driven mindset.
  • Experience across payroll systems; Workday highly regarded, Humanforce/MicrOpay a plus.
  • Proactive, solutions-focused approach with the confidence to challenge processes constructively.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to share expertise with the wider payroll team.
