At Australian Venue Co. (AVC), we’re more than just pubs and bars — we’re a national hospitality group with 200+ iconic venues across Australia and New Zealand. To keep us growing strong, our Finance team is looking for a motivated Tax Analyst to join the Melbourne office.

As a Tax Analyst, you’ll support the Tax Manager in ensuring AVC meets all tax compliance and reporting requirements across Australia and New Zealand. This is a hands-on role where you’ll work across multiple tax areas, liaise with external advisors and authorities, and collaborate with Finance, Payroll, and Operations teams.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Assist with preparation and lodgement of income tax returns (Australia & NZ), including Thin Cap & Transfer Pricing.
  • Prepare monthly tax expense and payment calculations, journal entries, and year-end tax effect accounting.
  • Manage GST, PAYG-I, Excise & Interest Withholding Tax activity statements.
  • Collate data and prepare Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns.
  • Support audits and liaise with external advisors and taxation authorities (ATO & NZ IRD).
  • Partner with finance and operations teams to ensure compliance and accuracy of tax data.

What We’re Looking For

  • 2+ years of corporate tax experience (business services or industry).
  • CA/CPA qualified or currently completing.
  • Strong understanding of Australian tax legislation; NZ tax knowledge a bonus.
  • Exposure to tax effect accounting preferred.
  • Intermediate skills in Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
  • Analytical mindset, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
