Flinders Hotel is looking for a passionate and experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen team as we enter an exciting new era. Having recently undergone renovations—with more to come—this is the perfect opportunity for a driven chef to make their mark. With plans for a garden kitchen in the works, we’re looking for a leader who values innovation, sustainability, and fresh, seasonal produce.

Positioned just metres from the Western Port coastline, at the foot of the historic, picturesque Flinders village, and nestled amongst beaches and coastal walks, our location is spectacular. Established in 1889, Flinders Hotel has been a part of the local community for nearly 130 years. Originally built to serve the Morse code trainers and staff at the nearby cable station, the hotel has evolved while maintaining its commitment to friendly country hospitality and delicious food. Today, our guests continue to enjoy a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere, making Flinders Hotel the perfect place to unwind and indulge.

  • A proven leader with extensive kitchen management experience
  • Ability to train, develop, and motivate a kitchen team

  • Commitment to maintaining high standards and driving success

What You’ll Bring to the Table:

  • Expertise in menu costing and waste control
  • Ability to create menus that balance creativity and consistency
  • Experience in large-scale events and functions
  • Knowledge of current culinary trends and kitchen optimisation
  • Strong understanding of rostering, cost control, and stock management
  • Proficiency in MS Office, restaurant management software, and POS
  • Compliance-driven approach with a focus on food safety and quality
  • Ability to engage with the local community and drive business growth
